» about: biographySee-Saw is a j-pop duo formed by Yuki Kajiura (composition and arrangement -and sometimes even background vocals-) and Chiaki Ishikawa (main vocals). They're now very popular in the anime scene, thanks to their contributions in the .hack//SIGN, .hack//Liminality, Noir and Gundam SEED soundtracks, among others. And Kajiura-san solo projects gives them even more popularity: her album Fiction, many collaborations with singers like Yuuka Nanri or Saeko Chiba, and lots of anime and game soundtracks (Xenosaga II Movie Scene OST, Madlax, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette...). But their career started long ago, as a highschool girlband with six girls... and none of them were Kajiura-san (she joined 5 years after the band was formed) nor Ishikawa-san (she joined 8 years later) :P In 1993, most of the original members of the group were gone, and it became a trio: Yukiko Nishioka, Yuki Kajiura and Chiaki Ishikawa. And they released their first single, Swimmer, and finally their debut album, I Have a Dream. But Nishioka quitted soon after that; the official version is that she wanted to devote all her time to her upcoming career as a writer, but others say that she simply lost interest, or that personal issues and arguments made her leave the band. After they became the duo they're now, they released their second album, See Saw (1994). Then, both Kajiura-san and Ishikawa-san decided to take care of their solo projects for *a little* period. And that "little period" lasted until 2001, when they 'joined forces' again in the Noir OST. Two years later, they released a new album, Dream Field (which, btw, it's the namesake of this site ^^). Since that moment, they've enjoyed a fairly big and increasing popularity, which even made them release a 'Best of'-type album, Early Best (that or the fact that their first two albums are REALLY difficult to find/buy >_<). |
